DA Hike Alert: The Union Cabinet, earlier, allowed a 3% hike in dearness allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for all the central government employees and pensioners. Amid the ongoing festive season celebrations, several states, including Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, etc have also announced DA hike to all government employees, pensioners and pensioners.
The recent DA hike will also bring three months arrears for employees, ie for the month of July, August, and September.

Which States Have Announced DA Hikes?
Haryana
Haryana government is the latest addition to the list of states which have announced DA hike for employees. The Finance Ministry of Haryana government, on October 24, announced the DA and DR hikes. As per the new revision, DA and DR have been increased by 3% from 55% to 58%.
As per the order, government employees who will draw their pay and pension or family pension under the 7th Pay Commission Structure, will now receive DA and DR at the rate of 58% in the state.
As per news reports, government employees will receive revised DA and DR in October, whereas the arrears for July to September will be paid in November.
Uttar Pradesh DA Hike
Prior to the DA hike by the Haryana government, the Uttar Pradesh government had announced a DA and DR hike for its employees and pensioners. In line with the central government's announcement, the DA and DR have been increased from 55% to 58% for all the government employees and pensioners.
Bihar
Bihar Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on October 3, approved a 3% increase in DA and DR. The revised DA and DR rates will be applicable from July 1 of the year. With this 3% increase, the dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners has risen from 55% to 58%.
Rajasthan
On the same day, ie October 3, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma approved a 3% hike in dearness allowance for the state government employees and pensioners. The new DA and DR rate. The revised DA hike will benefit nearly 12.4 lakh beneficiaries, including 8 lakh employees and around 4.4 lakh pensioners, as per the press release.
Assam
The Assam cabinet on October 16 approved the 3% DA hike for its government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners. The revised DA of 58% will come into effect from 1 July.
Arunachal Pradesh
The Arunachal Pradesh government, on October 10, announced a DA hike of 3% and DR hike of 3% for the government employees and pensioners. Post revision, DA and DR stood at 58%.
What is DA?
DA and DR is a part of the salary or pension paid to the government employees or pensioners. The DA component is revised annually to ensure that the salary remains relevant as per the inflation.
How is DA calculated?
DA is calculated based on the consumer price index (CPI) for industrial workers. The CPI-IW is released on a monthly basis by the Labour Bureau.
