HDFC Bank Revises Annual Safe Deposit Locker Charges Effective 1st April 2026; Check New Size-Wise Fees

With effect from April 1, 2026, HDFC Bank has revised the annual safe deposit locker charges for its customers. Customers may open a locker at more than 9,616 HDFC Bank branches throughout the country with the revised fees. In addition to the revised locker rates, HDFC Bank is enabling customers to pay locker rent—which is charged yearly and must be paid in advance—by direct debit option. If you have a current or savings account with HDFC Bank, you can open a safe deposit locker by paying the new charges.

According to HDFC Bank, while the annual locker rent is determined and collected in advance, the new rental fees may differ among branches within the same location category.

Who Can Open An HDFC Bank Locker Facility?

As per HDFC Bank, a safe deposit locker can be used to store precious items such as jewellery, important documents like property deeds, wills, and passports, rare collectables, cash, and other significant personal or financial value items. 

Customers who have a savings or current account with HDFC Bank can use the bank's safe deposit locker facility. They simply need to fill out and sign a stamped Locker Agreement form, as well as submit two passport-sized photographs of themselves and any joint licensees.

Suppose a customer has an existing locker license and wishes to add another individual as a joint licensee. In such a scenario, the individual must be an existing bank customer with a savings account, current account, or fixed deposit and must submit all KYC documents as well as one recent photograph.

HDFC Bank Locker Access Rules

Customers can only use your locker during banking hours. They must use the key issued by HDFC Bank in a sealed condition, and according to the bank's records, you or a person with Power of Attorney (POA) can unlock the Locker using the mode of operation you chose when hiring it.

"Only one person will be allowed into the vault at a time to ensure privacy. No other customer or staff can enter when the locker is open. After using a locker, you must check to ensure that no belongings are left behind and that the Locker is properly closed," HDFC Bank has mentioned on its website.
