Travelling, whether on business or on pleasure, can become a real hassle if you face with unforeseen situations. What if you or your partner suddenly falls ill? How much would the hospital bills eat into your shopping budget? What if your baggage gets misplaced by the airlines or in transit? Who would pay for the new designer suit you were going to wear to the business meet? If such questions have been plaguing you before your trip, then stop and think again. Would it really be wise to leave without Travel Insurance?
A travel insurance policy commonly covers:
- Baggage/valuable losses
- Medical/dental costs
- Emergency hospital bills
- Loss of travel documents such as passport, etc
- Cash losses/thefts
- Missing/rescheduling of flights, accommodation and daily expenses consequently
- Death while travelling
Travelling, especially overseas, can be fun but it often includes a lot of risks. Starting from minor medical costs to major cash misplacement, you can face a number of unpleasant issues while travelling. And to make sure you can travel without any additional worries, having the trip covered is advisable. Rather than preventing the mostly out-of-control happenings, you can just make provisions for them. Did you know that apart from covering the common problems, there are travel insurance policies that also provide additional covers like chronic illness treatments, terrorist attacks, baggage losses at hotels, local transport mishaps, etc.?
Did you, on your last trip, lose your important travel documents? Was it very difficult to hold someone responsible for it? Though scary, such incidents do happen. Travellers have even lost their passports and no one has been able to help them. The hotel blames the airline, the airline blames the airport and the circle seems to go on and on! However, if you happen to be caught in such a situation, you can at once break the circle - the insurance company will cater to all your needs and you can just sit back and relax!
One of the prime reasons for which travel insurance is availed of is medical emergencies. Apart from facing the trauma of being in an accident or falling seriously ill on your trip, footing the hefty medical bills can be a dampener. Almost all travel insurance policies therefore cover medical costs. Depending on your destination and past health records, the premium is charged. Once paid, you can rest assured. Even if you need to see a doctor on your trip, it will not pinch your pocket.
Then, it is very common for passengers to miss their flights. Whether it is a delay on your part or the connecting flight's part, if you happen to miss a flight, you will be entitled to compensation. Not only will your tickets be reissued, you will also be provided with accommodation and a daily expenditure allowance. Apart from this, if the airline loses your luggage, you can either claim for a complete compensation or ask for the policy to cover your temporary charges till you receive your luggage. The terms are flexible and you can select the one that suits you the best.
With so much to gain from, it is indeed unwise to travel without travel insurance. There are a number of policies available and you can easily compare them online. Go through the terms and conditions and see which policy suits you. Do not take a risk. Get Travel Insurance as travelling may become a real hassle without a travel insurance plan.
