It's now become extremely important to educate those families who are less fortunate about the advantages of going in for an insurance. Schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana will go a long for sure. We now take a look at yet another insurance scheme that could benefit those.
What is the Aam Aadmi Bhima Yojana?
The Government of India a few years back had merged two insurance schemes called the Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY) and Janashree Bima Yojana. Both of these merged schemes is now called AABY. The objective of the scheme is to provide insurance to individuals Below the Poverty Line (BPL) or slightly above the poverty line under identified vocational group/rural landless household.
Under the scheme people those satisfying the criteria will be provided an insurance of Rs 30,000 for a mere premium of Rs 200 per annum. The person who would be insured should be the sole earning member of the family.
In case of a rural landless household 50 per cent of the premium will be borne by the government of India.
Documents are needed for age proof under the scheme. The following documents would serve as valid proof:
Ration card, extract from birth register, extract from school certificate, voter's list, identity card issued by reputed employer/government department, aadhar card.
Conclusion
The Aam Aadmi Bhima Yojana is a good plan for those below the poverty line. Individuals, must be educated to subscribe to the plan.
