Small Savings Schemes Rates Stay Unchanged for 8th Quarter: Check PPF, NSC, SSY Latest Interest Rates

The government recently announced that it has decided to keep Interest Rates for Small Savings schemes unchanged for the April-June quarter of FY 2026-27. This will be the eighth consecutive quarter where there has been no revision in the interest rate of major schemes like Public Provident Fund, National Saving Certificate, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. The government typically reviews these rates every quarter based on factors such as Government bond yields, Inflation trends and liquidity conditions in the economy. The last revision made was in the fourth quarter of FY 2023-24, announced on 31st March 2023. The rates have been kept unchanged for several quarters after that.

The decision was announced by the Ministry of Finance under the Department of Economic Affairs on March 30, confirming the current post office schemes' interest rates starting April 1, 2026.

The official statement by the Department of Economic Affairs read,"The rates of interest on various Small Savings Schemes for the first quarter of FY 2026-27 starting from 1st April, 2026 and ending on 30th June, 2026 shall remain unchanged from those notified for the fourth quarter of FY 2025-26."

Small Savings Schemes Interest Rates April-June 2026

Since the interest rates for the April June quarter 2026 will remain unchanged, here are the current interest rates for these schemes:

  • PPF interest rate 2026: 7.1%
  • NSC interest rate 2026: 7.7%
  • Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana interest rate: 8.2%
  • Post office savings account interest rate: 4%

These rates will be applicable from April 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026.
