Companies listed on the stock market distribute a small portion of their profits in the form of dividends to the investors. It becomes a vital source of income for investors who remain engaged in the stock market for a longer tenure. As dividends are a small portion of companies profits that are given back to the investors, they give extra incentives for investors to hold on to their stocks even if the company is not growing at a desired or higher rate.
Companies make optimum utilization of dividends to share the annual profits directly with shareholders. It is ideally paid in the form of cash or at times this profit share may be in the form of providing extra stocks to the investors. A large number of companies pay an annual dividend on the basis of total profits generated during a year. In some cases, the companies may pay quarterly dividends or special dividends when extraordinary profits are earned via special events.
Below is a list of stocks that turn ex-dividend 2-3 times a year:
1. TCS
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT Services, consulting, and business solutions organization and an integral part of Tata Group. If the current share price of Rs 2998 is taken into consideration, it gives a dividend yield of 1.43%. The company has a good dividend history and regularly declared dividends in the last 5 years. For the current financial year, TCS declared an equity dividend of 2200% or Rs 22 per share on April 11 which turned ex-dividend on May 25, 2022. On June 30, TCS announced an interim dividend of 800% or Rs 8 per share and the ex-dividend date was June 14, 2022. Earlier last year on December 31, 2021, it announced an interim dividend of 700% and the ex-dividend date was January 19, 2022.
Last year in 2021, it had announced final dividend of 1500% on April 12, 2021, one interim dividend of 1500% on April 12, 2021, and another interim dividend of 700% on June 30, 2022. In the year 2020, it had announced one final dividend and 5 interim dividends. The market capitalization is Rs 1,097,258 crore.
2. Power Grid Corporation
it is a Schedule 'A', 'Maharatna' Public Sector Enterprise. It was incorporated on 23rd Oct 1989 under the Company Act, 1956. POWERGRID is a listed Company, with 51.34% holding of Government of India and the balance is held by Institutional Investors and public. This year the company had declared an interim dividend of 55% or Rs 5 per share on February 1, 2022 and it turned ex-dividend on February 16, 2022.
Last year, it had declared two interim dividends, one special dividend, and one final dividend. It had announced an interim dividend of 40% or Rs 4 per share on 23 Feb, another interim dividend on December 10, 2021 of 40% or Rs 4 per share. The Final Dividend was announced on June 17, 2021 of 30% or Rs 3 per share. A special dividend was announced on December 11, 2021 of 30%. In 2020 too it had announced two interim dividends and one final dividend. The market capitalization is Rs 149,867 crore.
3. Sanofi India Ltd
Sanofi India Limited is one of the entities of Sanofi in India. It has been in existence since 1956 and it was born under the name of Hoechst Fedco Pharma Private Limited. Sanofi India Limited is listed on Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange.
The company has a good dividend history and declared dividends in the last 5 years regularly. The company had declared final dividend of 1810% or Rs 181 on 23 February 2022 and the ex-dividend date was April 12, 2022. It has also declared yet another special dividend on Feb 24 of 3090% or Rs 309 per share and ex-dividend date was April 12, 2022.
Last year too it had announced final dividend of 1250% or Rs 125 per share and special dividend of 2400% or Rs 240 per share. The market capitalization is 15,145 crore.
4. Godrej Consumer Products Ltd
Godrej Consumer Products is a leading emerging markets company.
