In this new era of cashless economy and demonetization, most of us are using credit/debit cards and e-wallets. for shopping groceries and all other transactions. By taking few precautionary measures we can ensure the safety of cashless transactions and thus can contribute to making of digital India.

⦁ Mobile Wallets
⦁ Online Payments
⦁ POS(Point Of Sale) Machines
Mobile Wallets
Mobile wallets are vulnerable and for cyber criminals, it is an easy target. Since mobile wallet transactions are of smaller amounts, many vendors do not use very advanced security measures.
Mobile wallets are not secured by passwords. This helps cyber criminals to hack your card details easily.
Safety precaution to avoid such vulnerability
⦁ Do not to save the credit/debit card details on wallet apps.
⦁ Sign out from the wallet once the transaction is completed.
⦁ Change password of your application at regular intervals.
Online Payments
We use online payments for a number of things. Even there will be few third party apps which are not available on play store and get downloaded through pop-up ads while browsing. Sometimes, these apps contain malware through which an attacker can get our personal details in our mobile easily.
Safety precautions to avoid such vulnerability
⦁ Don't install unverified apps from play-store, app-store, Ovi-store etc.
⦁ Opt for an OTP (One Time Password) for payments
⦁ Change password of your application at regular intervals
⦁ Sign out from the application once the shopping is completed
⦁ Do not to save the credit/debit card details on application.
POS(Point Of Sale) machines
There are few POS machines in the market which can copy the details of credit and debit cards while swiping them in the machines these devices, which can be used to replicate cards.
We can avoid this by changing the ATM passwords at regular intervals.
By taking few precautionary measures and by following some safety instructions we can overcome such obstacles in digital payments.
