The government is all set to encourage cashless economy and digital transactions. In one of the major steps for a cashless economy, Government of India has waived off service tax applicable on subject to Rs 2000 card based transactions, which is applicable for both debit and credit cards. In order to push the penetration, Government has also asked banks to install 10,00,000 PoS terminals across their branches.

For Petrol and Diesel
You can avail an instant discount of 0.75% on payments made by cards and wallets if you are refueling your car or bike. Consumers will get the promised discount on cashless fuel purchases at petrol pumps run by state oil companies from Tuesday.
In Delhi petrol price is Rs 63.47 a litre, it would cost Rs 62.99 per litre for digital payments. Diesel costs Rs 54.28 per litre in Delhi. On card payment, it would be Rs 53.879 per litre.
Buy Insurance
Buying an insurance policy by card can also benefit you. Buying a general insurance or paying premium online would give you a discount of 10%. For life insurance, there will be 8% discount. For both these transactions, the customer needs to pay online through the insurance companies' own websites.
Book Your Tickets
By booking tickets through online, you will get Rs 10 lakh accident insurance. If you are booking for railway catering, accommodation, retiring room through IRCTC by digital payment methods, you will be entitled to a discount of 5 per cent. Monthly and seasonal suburban railway tickets paid through digital mode will get 0.5 per cent discount.
Paying Tolls On Highways
A flat10 per cent discount will be available on the use of digital mode for paying for RFID or fast-tags for highway toll.
Four wheelers on Yamuna Expressway from Delhi to Agra have levied a toll tax of Rs 410. If paid by card, one can avail a flat discount of Rs 41 on each trip.Mumbai-Pune Expressway has a toll of Rs 99 for one-way trip. If paid by card or wallet, you would get a flat Rs 9.90 off on it.
