State Bank of India (SBI) just few days ago warned its customers on e-mail fraud and now it has asked its account holders to be alert of anonymous whatsapp calls and messages asking bank account details that may possibly result in bank fraud. The bank said that with the increase in online payments, cybercriminals have now taken on to highly used WhatsApp platform for fraudulent activities.
"Customers are now being targeted on WhatsApp. Don't let cyber criminals fool you! Please be aware and stay vigilant", said the lender in a tweet. Time and again SBI notifies safety tips for its customers.

Some of the new ways using which cybercriminals are cheating bank account holders are:
- Telling bank account holders that they have won a lottery and asking them to contact a particular SBI number. Note that SBI never calls and asks for personal or account related credentials via SMS, WhatsApp call or messages or e-mail.
- No lottery or lucky customer type scheme is open so please be safe and think before you fall prey to such frauds.
- In fact cyber criminals are waiting for your one mistake and hence do not believe such fake callers or forwarded messages.
- Also share this message with other people to prevent them from falling prey to similar traps.
Moreover, SBI said that in case the fraud occurs because of the fault of bank then the customer will be compensated fully, else no refund shall be made.
