UIDAI Launches NewmAadhaar App

The unique id aadhaar issuing body UIDAI has yet again launched its Aadhaar app for its holders so that they can download their Aadhaar details on their smartphone. In a tweet the UIDAI said, "Uninstall any previously installed versions of the mAadhaar app from your mobile. Download and install the NewmAadhaarApp".

On mobile numbers registered with the UIDAI, the app can be downloaded via Google Play store.

The app primarily has two main sections:

1. My Aadhaar: This is a customized space using which you can add on the aadhaar profiles on your mobile app.

2. Aadhaar services dashboard: This section provides you with all the aadhaar services that can be availed online.

How the NewmAadhaar would help you?

With the app in your smartphone, you don't need to carry the aadhaar copy in physical copy as the soft copy would suffice or be as good as a hard copy to serve as Id or address proof wherever required. The app carries aadhaar number and demographics of the aadhaar card holder such as name, address, date of birth, photograph, gender etc.

The app can be used for availing any of the aadhaar related service that is available online such as for change or updation in address, photos etc. On a recent basis, the authority has placed restriction on the number of times such changes can be made in your aadhaar.
Also, the eKYC can be shared on email or via message directly.

Locking and temporary unlocking of aadhaar can also be carried out using mAadhaar.
Time based OTP or TOTP facility can be also used for receiving the OTP in case at some point for any of the services due to any of the issue.

Also, data can be prevented from leaking as the new app allows sharing of data using the QR code.
