UMANG App Introduces ‘Mera Ration’ Feature; Users Can Check Nearby Shops, Transactions & More; How To Use?

The Government of India has added a new 'Mera Ration' feature to the UMANG App. The new facility allows ration card holders to access important information related to their ration entitlements directly from their smartphones, eliminating the need to visit government offices or ration shops for basic queries.

UMANG App Adds New 'Mera Ration' Feature

With the introduction of this feature, users can check their monthly ration quota, find nearby government fair price shops, and track their ration distribution history. The update is expected to make the system more transparent and convenient, especially for beneficiaries who rely on subsidised food grains under the public distribution system.

What is 'Mera Ration' Service?

The newly added Mera Ration feature on the UMANG app allows users to access all essential ration card-related services online from home. Through this service, users can easily find the location of nearby government ration shops.

By simply entering their ration card number in the app, users can also check how much wheat, rice, or other food grains they are eligible to receive under their quota. In addition, the feature enables users to track their past ration history, allowing them to see when and how much ration they collected in previous months.

How to Use the 'Mera Ration' Feature on UMANG App

Using the feature is simple. Users just need to follow these steps:

Download the UMANG App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Open the app and register using your mobile number.

Set a 4-digit MPIN to secure your account.

After logging in, go to the home page and search for "Mera Ration" in the search box.

You will see several ration card services. Enter your ration card number to access your details.

If you do not have your ration card number, you can also retrieve information using your Aadhaar details.

Key Benefits for Ration Card Holders

The feature is particularly beneficial for migrant workers. Under the government's One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme, people who move to other states for work can easily check through the app which ration shop will provide them with food grains in their new location.

Apart from convenience, the feature is also expected to improve transparency in the public distribution system. Often, ration shop dealers cite reasons such as lack of stock or server issues. With the app, users can check ration availability directly.

To prevent fraud, the system also provides instant confirmation. Whenever a user collects ration through biometric authentication (fingerprint), they receive a confirmation SMS on their mobile phone. This ensures that the ration reaches the rightful beneficiary.
