Union Budget 2025-26 : Details About PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana
During the Union Budget 2025-26 presentation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a new scheme named Prime Minister Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana for the upliftment of agricultural conditions in 100 districts with low productivity, moderate crop intensity, and low accessibility to credit facilities.
Presenting her eight consecutive budget, she added that the novel scheme is inspired from the Aspirational Districts Program, which was launched in 2018 by the Niti Aayog to improve conditions of 112 most under-developed districts of India.

The Finance Minister stated that the scheme will be implemented in collaboration with all the state governments, integrating existing agricultural programs with specialized interventions.
Objectives of PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana
- Enhance agricultural productivity - The scheme aims to boost crop yields by promoting modern farming techniques, high-yield seed varieties, and advanced machines.
- Adopt crop diversification and sustainable agricultural practices - The scheme would encourage farmers to grow a variety of crops, while integrating modern techniques, such as organic farming, and natural resource management.
- Augment post-harvest storage at panchayat and block levels - The scheme would strengthen storage infrastructure to minimize food wastage by constructing warehouses, cold storage facilities, and grain banks. This would also enhance food security.
- Improve irrigation facilities - To avoid wastage of water, the scheme would expand access to efficient irrigation methods, such as drip irrigation, sprinkler systems, and canal networks.
- Facilitate availability of long-term and short-term credit - The scheme would provide financial assistance to farmers in the form of subsidized loans or other microfinance options, encouraging them to make better investments in agricultural inputs and farm equipment.
- The first full-time female finance minister highlighted that the scheme would positively impact 1.7 crore farmers across the nation, enhancing their financial condition along with agricultural development.
