Why PAN Allotment Needs To Be Done Quickly?
Recently, there was a need to register a society and the bank refused to open an Account, unless there was a PAN Card.
In most cases the bank needs a PAN Card. This means it needs to be issued urgently by the Income Tax Department. Some individuals say that it takes as much as three weeks to get a PAN done on a tatkal basis.
However, the authorities have tried to expedite the process as fast as possible.
What to do if the PAN card is not allotted quickly?
In most cases the PAN card willl arrive within the specified time. However, the delay could occur, if you have given the wrong address, or if the documents are incomplete. In such cases, you may have to talk to NSDL, which collects the application on behalf of the IT authorities. Or else, you might not know what the status of your application is.
You can also call PAN/TDS Call Centre at 020 - 27218080 to know whether your PAN card is allotted or the same has been rejected.
