10 Easy Steps to Lock/Unlock Your Aadhaar Card Biometrics through UIDAI's online portal
Step 1: Visit UIDAI's online portal and under the 'Aadhaar Services' section select the "Lock/Unlock Biometrics" option
Step 2: Now enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the security code and click on the 'Send OTP' option. After this, an OTP will be generated on your mobile number registered with Aadhaar
Step 3: Now enter the generated OTP on the required field and click on 'Login'
Step 4: Now enter the 4 digit security code displayed on the screen and click on 'Enable', once done your biometrics will be locked instantly and you can unlock it again whenever needed.

Step 5: To unlock your biometrics, click on 'Login' and enter your Aadhaar number and the security code and then click on "Send OTP"
Step 6: An OTP will be generated on the mobile number registered with Aadhaar, enter the OTP on the required space and click on 'Login'
Step 7: Now if you want to unlock your biometrics temporarily, enter the security code and click on "Unlock", this will unlock the biometrics for 10 minutes.
Step 8: In case you do not want to lock the biometrics you can disable the lock permanently, this facility is only accessible through the online portal.
Step 9: Login to the UIDAI portal to disable the lock and then enter your Aadhaar number and the security code
Step 10: Now click on the "Disable" option and your Aadhaar biometrics will be disabled permanently

Another form of locking / unlocking biometrics is via the mAadhaar app which is the official app authorized by UIDAI. Follow the below-listed steps to unlock biometric details in Aadhaar via mAadhaar app

Step 1: Download and install the mAadhaar app from the default app store of your mobile
Step 2: Now create your profile in the app for this, you need to enter your Aadhaar card number and verify it through an OTP
Step 3: Now click on the three vertical dots located in the top right corner of the app
Step 4: Now click on the Biometric Settings option
Step 5: Accept the 'Enable Biometric Locking' option
Step 6: Now an OTP will be generated on your mobile number registered with Aadhaar
Step 7: The OTP will be automatically filled-up in the required field
Step 8: You do not need to enter the OTP manually
Step 9: Once the OTP is verified the biometrics will be locked
Step 10: This can take up to 6 hours to activate the lock
