The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is liable for administering the Aadhaar biometric initiative of the government that enables Aadhaar holders to recover their missed Enrolment ID (EID). Provided at the time of enrollment for an Aadhaar card to all Aadhaar enrollees an EID is a unique identification number which is used to check the status of an Aadhaar application online. Through visiting the UIDAI portal or via the mobile app mAadhaar, individuals can recover a lost EID or an Aadhaar number online.
But before we start it is important to mention here that to retrieve your lost Aadhaar Enrolment ID it is mandated to link your mobile number with Aadhaar. To link your mobile number with Aadhaar follow the below-listed steps:

That being said, this re-verification process will only be possible for those customers who already have their mobile numbers linked with Aadhaar. If their number is not linked with Aadhaar, individuals will have to follow the offline procedure to link their SIM card with Aadhaar by visiting the nearest telecom store or outlet. To link your Aadhaar with mobile number through OTP follow the below-listed steps:
- Dial 14546* from your mobile number and opt whether you are an Indian or NRI
- Re-verify your Aadhaar by tapping 1
- Now enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and press 1 to confirm it.
- An OTP will be generated, and you will get the same on your mobile number.
- In order to access your name, photo and DOB from UIDAI allow the operator for the same.
- The last 4 digits of your mobile number will be read out by the IVR, if it is correct then you will receive an OTP on your mobile number.
- Now you need to press 1 to complete the procedure.
Steps to verify your mobile number on UIDAI portal
The email address and mobile number specified during the Aadhaar card registration can be easily verified. For online services of Aadhaar to be used a registered mobile number is mandatory. If your mobile number is not linked with your Aadhaar card, follow the above listed steps. Hence, by following the steps below you can verify your mobile number on the UIDAI portal online:
- Visit https://resident.uidai.gov.in/verify-email-mobile and enter your Aadhaar number, email address as well as the captcha code.
- Now if you are willing to verify your email ID, you will be asked to enter 12-digit Aadhaar number, email ID and the security code.
- You will get an OTP on your registered email ID which you need to authenticate to verify your email ID.
- You will get this message "Congratulations! The Email ID matches with our records!" once your specifics match with UIDAI.
- Likewise, follow the same process if you want to verify your mobile number. Enter your mobile number instead of the email address and generate the OTP.
