It's possible that you would need to make changes in your PAN card over a period of time. For example, if you were a spinster at the time of applying for a PAN Card, but now have married and your surname as undergone a change, then you need to change the name in your PAN Card after marriage as well.
It's also possible that your signature has also undergone a change.

For ladies who have married and wish to change the name on the PAN Card certain documents are required as proof of marriage. These include marriage certificate, marriage invitation card, publication of 'name-change' in gazette, copy of passport showing husband's name (or vice versa).
The applicant is required to fill all the columns of the form and tick the box(es) on the left margin of the appropriate item where change/correction is to be done.
You can also make changes to your signature as well.
If you are an individual other than a married lady and wish to make a change on your PAN Card, in such a case you would need a copy of the publication of name-change' in gazette.
For partnership firms who wish to make changes on their PAN Card, they would need to furnish a copy of the revised partnership deed.
In all cases the relevant form has to be ticked at the appropriate place where the change is so desired, along with the documents mentioned above.
Remember, it's important to make changes in the PAN Card, if your name has undergone a change after marriage. You would be issued a fresh PAN Card with the desired changes, once the application is accepted.
If we change the Name will the PAN Card Number change?
Nowadays we need PAN Card at most of the places such as for doing big transactions, paying bills etc., and also we would have submitted the PAN Card number at lot of places such as at office and other places. So, if the PAN number of the married lady changes they may need to resubmit our PAN Card in all the places again because the old PAN Card number will become invalid if we get a new one.
We don't need to worry about it because the PAN Number will not change if we change our name in the PAN Card it remains the same. Yes a new PAN Card will be issued to you with the name change of the married lady, but the PAN number will be the same. All that happens is just your name will be changed in income tax office records. After all, as indicated - it's a permanent account number.
