How To Link PAN With Aadhaar Via SMS?

The Income Tax Department has made it mandatory for all the taxpayers in the country to link their Aadhaar with Permanent Account Numbers.

The Finance Act 2017 has made it compulsory for taxpayers to quote Aadhaar or enrolment ID of Aadhaar application form for filing of income tax returns.

How To Link PAN With Aadhaar Via SMS?

Now the taxpayers can link their PAN with Aadhaar, the 12-digit number issued by Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI based on the demographic and biometric information of the person using an SMS-based facility. PAN is the ten-digit alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department to a person, firm or entity.

According to an advertisement by the tax department, Aadhaar can be linked with PAN by sending an SMS to either 567678 or 56161.

Also, Aadhaar has been made mandatory for applying for permanent account number with effect from July 1, 2017. The department, till now, has linked over 1.18 crore Aadhaar with its PAN database.
