As per the government directive, linking Aadhaar to your mobile number is mandatory for all existing customers. The customer has two different options to complete biometric verification. Charges and exemptions
There is no fee for linking Aadhaar with your Airtel number. Also If you are an Airtel Broadband or Digital TV customer, you don't need to link it to Aadhaar. The rule is required only for mobile connections. If you are an Airtel customer, you should get it done. Customers in roaming need to get the Aadhaar verified in their respective home circle. Biometric verification
Biometric verification is a process through which, a person can be uniquely identified basis fingerprints, and details are fetched as per the information in Aadhaar database. While linking Aadhaar to your Airtel mobile number, the storekeeper will ask for your Fingerprint for Biometric verification. After verification, you will receive a confirmation SMS within 24 hours. Last date
It is better to complete the seeding process as soon as possible. The last date for linking your Airtel mobile number and Aadhaar card is 6th Feb 2018. If you don't complete the process before 6th Feb 18, services on your mobile number might get restricted.
Documents needed
All you need is your Aadhaar card or Aadhaar number and your Mobile Phone with you. The mobile phone is compulsory as you will receive the verification code or One Time Password (OTP) on your mobile that would be required to complete the process. You will be needed to complete biometric verification. If you are a Datacard user, the OTP will be sent to your registered alternate mobile number.
Who are the exemptions?
If you have done biometric (given fingerprints) along with Aadhaar at the time of taking the new connection, you do not have to follow the verification process again. If Aadhaar was given only as an identity or address proof for taking the SIM connection and no biometric was done, you need to visit your nearest Airtel retailer to complete the process.
