We all do know that linking one's Aadhar card to various accounts like PAN, EPF, Bank accounts, phone number, etc. have been made compulsory by the Indian government. Knowing that you have been giving your Aadhar card number to various sources as ID proof or otherwise, it could be useful to find out how to check if some entity has requested an authentication of your Aadhar card.

Aadhar Authentication
Suppose you were to open a bank account. In the opening procedure, you submit your Aadhar number or a copy of the Aadhar card as ID proof. The bank then sends a request to Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR) with your number and details provided for verification. The entity might send demographic (name, date of birth, etc.) or biometric (fingerprint, signature, etc.) data to the repository for verification. The CIDR does not share your personal information but merely responds with a 'Yes' or 'No.'
How to check who has requested for your Aadhar card verification?
UIDAI provides you with an 'Aadhar Authentication History' tool to check the information like the method of authentication, transaction ID or even Aadhar authentication failure code. You can view a maximum of 6 months of history, and the number of records is limited to a maximum of 50.
- Go to https://uidai.gov.in/, and you click on 'Aadhar Authentication History' under 'Aadhar Services.'

Click on 'Aadhar Authentication History' under 'Aadhar Services' - Enter you Aadhar number and the security code in the boxes provided. Then click on 'Generate OTP.'

Generate OTP - You should now receive an OTP as a text message on your registered mobile number.
- On your screen, select type of authentication from options like 'demographic,' 'biometric,' 'OTP,' 'Biometric and demographic' and so on. You can also select 'all' to see all types of authentications.
- Select a date range. You can select a maximum period of 6 months.
- Enter the number of records you want to view. Note that the maximum limit is 50.
- Enter the OTP that you received in Step 3 in the box given.
- You will then be directed to the page displaying your Aadhar authentication history. It will display the date, time and type of authentication but not the name agency or entity who requested for it.
- With the help of the above details, cross check your e-mail inbox of the address registered with the UIDAI for that given date to find out the name of the entity or agency. You should receive an e-mail for every authentication approved by CIDR. The e-mail will also specify the type of authentication like 'fingerprint' in the email.
- In case you received an authentication notification without applying for it, you can approach the mentioned agency in the e-mail and investigate further.
