One Nation One Card: All You Need To Know On Availing And Using The Mobility Card
On 4 March, the Central Government launched the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), a locally developed card to provide seamless urban mobility to travel across the country.
Also known as the 'One Nation One Card,' it works as an inter-operable transport card which is pre-paid and can be used to pay bus charges, parking expenses, toll charges, withdraw cash or shop at retail outlets. Here is all you need to know about the mobility card.

- It is similar to a RuPay card that is issued by banks. The NCMC can be issued in the form of debit or credit card by the partnered bank.
- Apart from being a debit/credit card, it is also similar to a metro smart card, and you can avail one at your bank.
- This Rupay Contactless National Common Mobility Card is available at 25 banks including the State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB).
- These are also issued by the Paytm payments bank.
- It can be used to make payments for metro rail, bus, suburban railways, smart city, parking, toll plazas, and retail shopping.
- These cards come with cashback offers on certain bill payments, ATMs withdrawals and shopping at retail outlets.
- Under the 'Make in India' initiative, the card was developed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs with NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India).
- The indigenously developed Automatic Fare Collection Gate 'Swagat' and an Open Loop Automatic Fare Collection System 'Sweekar' was also launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 4 March at Ahmedabad.
- In a tweet, Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said, "it will work seamlessly across Metro, BRT, City Bus, Suburban Rail, Parking, Toll etc. All Debit/Credit Cards will be NCMC compliant. @cdacindia, BEL, @OfficialDMRC & @TheOfficialSBI have played an important role in this."
- During the launch, Modi said that India "no longer required to be dependent on foreign technology" after the launch of the NCMC that was developed in India. "Only a select few countries have this technology of 'One Nation One Card'," he further said.
