One of the most important documents is the Aadhar card. The eligible population can take advantage of all government schemes with this single photo identity card. Aadhaar also makes it simple to open a bank account, purchase property, apply for a driver's licence, and do other things.
The Unique Identification Authority of India, UIDAI, recommends several methods for people to protect their Aadhaar data from misuse.
Aadhaar virtual ID
Virtual ID is a revocable, temporary 16-digit random number linked to the Aadhaar number. When performing authentication or e-KYC services, a virtual ID can be used instead of an Aadhaar number.
Virtual ID can be used for authentication in the same way that an Aadhaar number can. Aadhaar Virtual ID can be generated from an Aadhaar number, but the Aadhaar number cannot be traced back to the Aadhaar VID.
Cardholders can quickly generate Virtual ID by going to the official website or the My Aadhaar portal. Instead of sharing an Aadhaar number, you can share a Virtual ID to protect your Aadhaar card information.
Aadhaar lock service
Every cardholder receives Aadhaar Lock Service from UIDAI. The service cardholder can use this to lock and unlock their biometric information. Before using the Aadhaar card, the Aadhaar card holder must unlock the biometric details.
How to lock and unlock Aadhar card
Step 1: Go to UIDAI's official website.
Step 2: Select My Aadhaar.
Step 3: Choose Aadhaar Services to secure your biometrics.
Step 4: Next, click Lock / Unlock Biometrics and enter your Aadhaar details to complete the process. This allows you to easily lock and unlock your Aadhaar.
Aadhar card history
UIDAI also allows you to check the history of your Aadhaar card. This cardholder can also discover which other documents are linked to their Aadhaar card. By going to Aadhaar Services on the official website of UIDA, you will be able to view your Aadhaar Authentication History for the last six months.
