The income tax department will only process your return if it has been verified. As a result, refunds will be issued only if the return is submitted and verified. You can e-Verify your Income Tax Return using any of the available methods. You can also e-Verify any other Income Tax related submissions / services / responses / requests on the e-Filing portal to successfully complete the respective processes. You have the option of using any of the following e-Verification modes:
What is ITR Verification?
To reduce the possibility of false ITR filing, every tax filer is required to verify that he or she filed the ITR and not someone else. When you file an ITR, the income tax department receives your tax return but does not begin processing it (or checking). After the return has been verified, the processing begins. This is known as ITR verification.
