FASTag is an electronic toll collection system in India that employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid account linked to it. FASTag is affixed on the windscreen of your vehicle and enables you to drive through toll plazas, without stopping for cash transactions. You need to recharge/top up the tag as per your requirement. Recently, the government has issued an important update on FASTag KYC update.
For customers whose KYC documents are received, the FASTag Account recharge limit is Rs 1,00,000. For non-KYC customers, the recharge limit is Rs 10,000 only.

Your FASTag balance is the amount of money that is left in your account after paying tolls. Remember that you will not be allowed to travel if you have less money in your account. Thus, it is advisable to always keep track of the money left in their FASTag account after paying tolls. If you are wondering how to check your FASTag balance, this article is for you. There are different ways to check FASTag balance.
FASTag Balance can be checked through the GPay app, Paytm, PhonePe app, and other methods. Step-By-Step Guide On How To Update FASTag KYC Details Ahead Of January 31 Deadline
Your FASTag May Get Deactivated/Blacklisted After Jan 31 If FASTag Update Is Not Done
One big update for car owners is that if the Know Your Customer (KYC) for FASTags affixed on your car's windscreen is incomplete or not done, it will be deactivated or blacklisted, irrespective of the balance. The deadline to ensure the same is January 31. Thus, only a few days are left for FASTag users to complete their KYC process to ensure that their latest FASTag aligns with the RBI guidelines.
According to the NHAI, Fastags with incomplete KYC will be canceled or deactivated after January 31. This means that even if you have valid FASTags with sufficient balance your FASTags may be deactivated or face blacklisting by banks due to incomplete KYC after January 31, 2024.
