Aadhaar is one of the most important documents required for any Central and State government services or financial services. The name, address, date of birth, and other required information on the Aadhaar card should always be updated. The user only needs to update it twice, according to the guidelines of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). UIDAI, a statutory body established by the Government of India, provides a 12-digit unique identification number.
How many times can Aadhaar details be updated?
Name
The user's name can be changed twice in the Aadhaar card.
Date of birth
In Aadhaar, the date of birth can never be changed.
It is only possible if there is a chance of an error occurring during the data entry process.
Address and gender change
There is only one-time modification available for the address and gender fields.
How to make changes beyond limit
Changes to the name, gender, or date of birth on the Aadhaar card beyond a certain limit are possible by visiting a UIDAI regional office.
What is the procedure for exceptional handling?
Step 1: The user must go to an Aadhaar enrolment centre to update their name, birth date, or gender.
Step 2: If the number of times for updating Aadhaar details is exceeded, a request must be submitted to the enrolment centre via email, post, or regional office of the UIDAI.
Step 3: The individual must provide the reason for the change, along with a copy of the URN slip, Aadhaar details, and relevant proof.
Step 4: Send an email to help@uidai.gov.in.
Step 5: A person is not required to visit the UIDAI office until he or she is asked to do so.
Step 6: The regional office will conduct an investigation to gather additional information about the specific individual.
Step 7: Once the regional office has completed the verification, a request will be sent for processing and reprocessing.
