The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) was established under the Department of Post, Ministry of Communication, with the government of India owning 100% of the equity. Through a network of 650 IPPB branches controlling offices that operate on a hub and spoke model, IPPB has extended its reach across India, covering post offices. You can now easily open a digital savings account with India Post Office and perform all necessary transactions. The Post Office Savings Account plays a crucial role in encouraging people to save. One of the most important characteristics of a POSA is that it can only be opened with cash and requires a minimum initial deposit of Rs. 500. It allows for simple account transfers between post offices with no lock-in or maturity requirements. The POSA gives an annual interest rate of 4%.
Along with English, the Indian Post app is available in Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Oriya, Punjabi, and Assamese.
Customers should link their IPPB savings account to their POSA account. Any account balance over Rs. 1 lakh at the end of the day is transferred to the linked POSA account if the customer chooses this option.
