It is a good habit to check the available balance in one's savings bank account before issuing a cheque or swiping the debit card for purchases as this will avoid cheque bouncing charges or the debit card getting declined.
If you have a savings bank account with the country's largest public-sector bank - State Bank of India (SBI), there are several ways to check the balance of your savings bank account.

SBI Passbook
The SBI account holders will be provided with a passbook. They can visit the nearest bank branch and get the passbook printed at the SBI kiosk to know the SBI balance.
Net Banking Facility
One of the easiest and quickest way to SBI balance check in savings account is by logging into your respective account through SBI's Net Banking facility. One can log in to your account after visiting the official web portal of SBI and by entering the user ID and password.
After successful login, the web portal will show your bank account number, branch name and a hyperlink for the available balance and transactions.
Now click on the "Click here for balance" option to check the SBI balance in your savings bank account.
Through ATM
The SBI account holders can check their account balance by visiting any of the SBI ATM or any other ATM's.
Step 1: Firstly, swipe your SBI ATM card (debit card) in the ATM kiosk.
Step 2: Enter the 4-digit ATM PIN.
Step 3: Click on the "Balance Enquiry or Balance Check" option
Step 4: Available savings account balance will reflect on the screen.
Please Note: If you want to get information about the last 10 transactions, then select the 'Mini Statement' option on the ATM.
Through Missed Call
The SBI account holders can make a balance enquiry through a missed call. To use this facility, it is mandatory to register for SBI missed call banking facility.
The missed call banking will allow the users to perform several banking operations by just giving a missed call or by sending an SMS to the bank. Using this facility, the users can check one's account balance, home loan interest certificate, get a mini statement and a range of other services.
Post successful registration, the user will have to send a missed call or send an SMS 'BAL' to 09223766666.
Dialling Toll-Free Number
If in case, the user does not have a net banking facility or cannot access the same then they can check the savings account balance by dialling the toll-free number.
The toll-free number is 1800-11-2211 or 1800-425-3800 and follow the instructions to know the bank account balance. One should always make a call from their registered mobile number to use this facility.
Through Mobile Banking
To use the mobile banking facility, one should have registered for SBI's mobile banking service. One should download the SBI bank's mobile banking app to use the facility.
Step 1: First login to the SBI mobile banking app.
Step 2: Now select 'Enquiry Services' from the Main Menu.
Step 3: Proceed further and under the 'Enquiry Services', select the 'Balance Enquiry' option.
Step 4: Now select the bank account for which you are checking the balance.
Step 5: Enter the MPIN. Proceed further and press the 'Menu' button.
Step 6: Now select the 'Confirm' option. You will receive a message which shows the available balance in your respective account selected by you.
SMS Services
The SBI account holders can use the SBI SMS Services to check their SBI savings account balance, last transaction details and so on.
Firstly, activate the SBI SMS Call services through registration. This can be done by sending an SMS 'REG space SBI Account Number' to 9223488888. Post, successful registration, the account holder will receive a confirmation message about the same. Post this, they can use the SBI SMS services.
Send a message SMS Balance to 9223766666 from your registered mobile number to know the SBI savings account balance.
SBI YONO
The SBI Customers can download the SBI YONO app on their smartphones to avail mobile banking facilities. The app can be downloaded on their Android or iOS devices.
Once the app is successfully downloaded, log in using your mobile banking credentials.
Using YONO, customers can avail of an array of banking facilities like balance enquiry, transfer funds to other accounts, check account statements and so on.
