India is an agricultural country but due to the bad harvest and seasonal conditions,farmers were forced to take loans at a high rate of interest from lenders. Government of India, introduced the kisan credit card scheme for the farmers to meet their credit requirements. This scheme was introduced in 1998 to provide short term credit to the agriculture, fisheries and animal husbandry farmers by NABARD. Kisan credit card saves the farmers from high interest loans from banks as its rate of interest is very low around 2% - 4%. Here is a step by step guide for online and offline application of kisan credit card.
Key Features of Kisan Credit Card
- This scheme provides farmers credit for their financial expenses related to agriculture and post- harvest expenses.
- It provides credit for investment purposes for their agriculture equipment.
- Upto rupees 3 lakh can be taken as a loan under KCC.
- Under KCC scheme holders are eligible for insurance for death or disability upto rupees 50000 and for other risks rupees 25000.
- A smart card and debit card is issued under a savings account.
- Easy repayment procedure
- Scheme provides credit for a period of 3 years.
Documents Required for application
- Application form filled up and signed with all required documents.
- Documents required- copy of identity card such as aadhar card, voter id etc Copy of address proof document such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID, driving licence. The proof should have the applicant's current address to become valid.
- Documents related to the land
- Passport size photo
- Other required documents as per bank

You can apply for kisan credit card both online and offline
Online
- Go to the official website of the bank you want to apply
- Select Kisan Credit Card
- Click apply and fill out the form
- Click submit .
Offline
- KCC scheme can be applied offline
- Visit the bank branch
- Fill out the form in the bank with the help of bank representative
- Submit all required documents with the form
