Starting August 15, 2025, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will roll out a new FASTag Annual Pass across the country. Unlike the existing pay-as-you-go FASTag system, the annual pass will operate as a prepaid plan, offering users up to 200 toll transactions or one year of validity-whichever limit is reached first.
FASTag Annual Pass Starts From August 15
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced a new FASTag annual pass for private vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans. This pass will allow free passage at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas for up to 200 trips or one year, whichever comes first. Unlike the standard system, there will be no per-trip user fees under this plan.

The FASTag Annual Pass will be implemented starting August 15, 2025, with the goal of easing congestion, reducing wait times, and minimising disputes at toll booths-ultimately creating a faster and more seamless travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners.
This initiative also addresses ongoing concerns about toll plazas located within a 60-kilometre radius, by consolidating toll payments into a single, cost-effective prepaid solution.
How Does the FASTag Annual Pass Work?
FASTag Annual Pass entitles them to travel on any national highway or expressway toll plaza up to 200 times or for a full year-whichever limit is reached first. After this period or usage limit is met, the pass reverts automatically to a standard FASTag. To regain the benefits, users must recharge the FASTag again with Rs 3,000 to receive another year's worth of 200 trip credits.
Which Toll Plazas Are Covered by the FASTag Annual Pass?
The Annual Pass is valid only at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll booths. In contrast at state highways (SH), local or municipal-controlled toll plazas, and parking areas, it functions like a regular FASTag, where standard per-trip fees will be charged.
How Long Is the FASTag Annual Pass Valid?
The pass remains active for one year from activation or for 200 toll crossings-whichever comes first. Once either threshold is reached, it converts back to a regular FASTag automatically. Users must recharge the FASTag with Rs 3,000 to restore the Annual Pass benefits, which again include a full year of validity or 200 trips.
