PM SVANidhi Scheme: In a major delight for small street vendors, the Union Government has extended the lending period for the Prime Minister Street Vendor's Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) to 31 March 2030. The scheme offers loan amounts to vendors, hawkers, thelewala, rehriwala, theliphadwala, etc.
The extension of the PM SVANidhi scheme timeline is likely to boost lending for people who are into small scale industries. The government can offer enhanced loan amounts across the first and second tranches, provide UPI-linked RuPay Credit Card for beneficiaries who have paid their second loan and other digital cashback incentives for retail and wholesale transactions.
As per the scheme's official website, the first tranche of loan under PM SVANidhi scheme has been increased up to Rs 15,000 from Rs 10,000 and the second tranche loans have increased up to Rs 25,000 from Rs 20,000, while the third tranche remains unchanged at Rs 50,000.
PM SVANidhi Scheme: How To Get Benefits Of The Scheme?
Vendors from peri-urban, rural, or surrounding development areas vending within city or town limits can benefit from the Scheme. Those not included in the survey must present specific documents to obtain a Letter of Recommendation (LoR) from ULB/TVC.
To secure the LoR, vendors need to provide one of these documents: proof of receiving one-time assistance during lockdowns from certain States/UTs, records of past loans taken for vending purposes from banks or financial institutions, membership details with vendor associations, or any other document proving their status as vendors.

If none of these documents are available, vendors can submit a simple application on white paper to the ULB. This request should ask for a local enquiry to verify their claim's authenticity. Once the LoR is obtained, vendors can approach a BC or Agent to apply for the loan.
