The Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, presented the country's budget. During this time, many announcements were made about various large schemes. During his speech, the Finance Minister also announced the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. Traditional artists in the country will benefit from the scheme. Traditional artisans and craftspeople who work with their hands and tools have brought fame to India for centuries. They are commonly known as Vishwakarma. Their art and handicrafts exemplify the true spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. For the first time, a package of assistance has been conceptualised for them.

What is the PM Vishwakarma Scheme?
This programme for traditional artists and craftspeople has been launched by the government. Various traditional and skilled professionals will be empowered as a result of this scheme. PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman announced a financial assistance package for traditional artisans and craftsmen in the Union Budget. Along with the MSME value chain, the government will set fair prices for the products of these artisans. Furthermore, in the future, the government will provide a better source of income for these artisans. The scheme will help these artisans improve the quality of their products while also assisting them with marketing and distribution.
How will it Benefit the Artisans?
Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister, stated, "The new Scheme will allow them to improve the quality, scale, and reach of their products while also integrating them into the MSME value chain. The scheme's components will include access to advanced skill training, knowledge of modern digital techniques and efficient green technologies, brand promotion, linkage with local and global markets, digital payments, and social security. This will primarily benefit Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs, women, and people from underprivileged backgrounds."
