The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) introduced FASTag in 2014 to make toll payment easier. FASTag is a card that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to allow drivers to pay their toll tax electronically at toll booths. The government has made FASTag mandatory for both commercial and personal four-wheelers in order to reduce long lines at toll plazas across the country. FASTag is provided by several banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI). SBI, India's largest public sector bank, made it simple for customers to check their balances. Here is how to check sbi fastag balance using SMS.

What is FASTag?
The FASTag is an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) sticker that we use on our vehicles to ensure a smooth driving experience at toll booths. At toll booths, the FASTag scanner automatically scans this tag. This not only cuts down on long lines at toll booths, but it also eliminates the need to carry physical cash.
It became mandatory for all private and commercial vehicles on January 1, 2021. To ensure that all vehicles use FASTag, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has made it mandatory even for new third-party insurance purchases.
