When you open an account with any bank, you are given the option of using netbanking. The majority of the time, users struggle to create a strong password. With this common issue in mind, State Bank of India has listed and recommended some best practices for creating a password for its internet banking services.
Consider the following best practises for creating a password for SBI Online:
- Do not use your name, family name, or vehicle number as your password because they are easily guessed;
- Change your password frequently;
- Remember your password and do not write it down or paste it anywhere;
- Never give out your password to anyone, even if they claim to work for SBI.
Here are some methods for creating an unbreakable password
- Use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters. aBjsE7uG, for example
- Make use of both numbers and symbols, for example, AbjsE7uG61!@
- To ensure adequate security, use a minimum of 8 characters. aBjsE7uG, for example
- Avoid using common dictionary words. For example, itislocked or thisismypassword
- Use memorable keyboard paths such as "qwerty" or "asdfg" sparingly. Instead, experiment with your keyboard and insert emoticons such as ":)", ":/"
- Avoid using obvious passwords such as 12345678 or abcdefg.
- Avoid using obvious substitutions such as DOORBELL - DOOR8377.
- Make your password as long as possible and avoid connecting it to your family/birthdate, etc. For example, Ramesh@1967.
Here are some additional details and features concerning password generation and protection:
- If you have forgotten your login password. In the site, click the 'Forgot password?' link and enter the required information. Within 10 working days, you will receive a new password at your registered email address.
- Passwords can be changed at any time and indefinitely. In fact, you should change your password on a regular basis to ensure secure access to your account information.
- The system generates the user name and password. On your first visit to OnlineSBI, you must change your user name and password.
When you first access OnlineSBI, you must change the system-generated user name and password. At any time, you can change your password but not your user name.
Customers of SBI should keep in mind that their password serves as their signature and should be kept unique. In the event of a cybercrime incident, SBI customers should report it immediately at cybercrime.gov.in. Everyone must be aware of the threats of cybercrime and take precautions to keep personal information from falling into the wrong hands.
