On Monday, e-commerce company Amazon said Indian MSMEs and companies that form a part of its GSP or global selling programme have in aggregate exports crossed $2 billion.
Started in 2015, the GSP initiative of the company allows India based companies to export to other nations via its 15 Amazon sites. The programme kickstarted with a few hundred sellers has more than 60000 exporters.

In January, the US-based e-tailer pledge to carry out exports worth $10 billion by 2025.
Senior VP and country head Amazon India, Amit Agarwal, said MSMEs are the backbone of the country and by digitizing them, the company is creating a platform to boost exports and employment generation.
"The GSP helps take homegrown businesses global and provides an avenue for MSMEs to build global brands. The programme is witnessing momentous growth. It took three years for the programme to hit exports of $1 billion and now it has grown 100 per cent to hit the next $1 billion in less than 18 months," he added.
Indian SMEs and brands using Amazon global selling export worldwide has now crossed $2 billion in cumulative exports, he noted.
He added that amid such a crisis situation the programme has managed to continue with exports, and thus helped several families in a situation where supply chain has been disrupted globally.
"Exports will continue to play a critical role in this revival. GSP is helping local go global. This is more important than ever for our small businesses, and for the nation, as it recovers from unprecedented time. We will continue to empower Indian MSMEs to realise their potential and make exports easy," he said.
