BSE SENSEX closed at 16805.33 down by 41.5 points or by 0.25 % and then NSE Nifty ended at 5039.15 down by 11 points or by 0.22 %.
On Tuesday market remained closed on account of Moharrum.
Wednesday, the domestic benchmarks closed on a positive note amid supportive global cues. The IT and Capital Goods space led the rally.
BSE SENSEX closed at 16877.06 up by 71.73 points or by 0.43 % and then NSE Nifty ended at 5062.6 up by 23.45 points or by 0.47 %.
Thursday, the domestic benchmarks closed on a bearish note as the benchmarks traded below the baseline for the entire session amid weak cues from the Asian markets. The Capital Goods and the Realty space led the decline.
BSE SENSEX closed at 16462.75 down by 414.31 points or by 2.45 % and then NSE Nifty ended at 4943.65 down by 118.95 points or by 2.35 %.
On the economic front, India"s food inflation fell to 6.6 per cent for the week ended November 26, 2011 from 8 per cent in the previous week as prices of milk, vegetables, cereals, egg and fruits dropped.
Friday, the domestic benchmarks closed on a bearish note for a second straight session as the benchmarks traded below the baseline for the entire session amid weak cues from the Asian markets. The Capital Goods and the Auto space led the decline.
BSE SENSEX closed at 16213.46 down by 274.78 points or by 1.67 % and then NSE Nifty ended at 4866.7 down by 76.95 points or by 1.56 %.
Among the Sensex stocks, Jaiprakash Associates, Mahindra and Mahindra, Bharti Heavy Electricals Limited, Bajaj Auto and Sterlite Industries fell by 4.67%, 3.62%, 3.45%, 3.20% and 3.20%, respectively. Among the 30 BSE Sensex stocks, there were 5 advances and 25 declines. On BSE out of total shares traded 2900, shares advanced were 1037 while 1733 shares declined and 130 were unchanged.
This week Sensex market opened at 16,812.30 and closed at 16,213.46 down by 598.84 points or by 3.56 %.
