With 123 EPFO field offices across the country, the mandate applies to as many as 108 field offices. While the remaining 15 field offices of Bandra, Bangalore, Bommasandra, Chennai, Delhi North, Delhi South, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Kandivili, Kolkata, Noida, Pambaram, Pune and Thane shall continue to have the prior redressal time limit of 30 days. The primary reason cited for the continuance of the previous redressal time limit in these field offices is larger customer base.
This step of EPFO towards providing better service to its customers is confirmed in an official statement that states "Time limit fixed for resolving grievances in respect of 108 field offices has been reduced to 15 days instead of earlier 30 days".
The complaints received by the EPFO body from its subscriber base has reduced from a monthly average of 16,000 to 13,000 in the month of November. Also, the retirement fund body has managed to lower down the grievance pendency that earlier stood at 25,000 on an average with lesser pending complaints in the month ending November.
During the current financial year until November, EPFO reportedly settled approximately 80 lakh claims, of which 98% had been settled within the stipulated time frame of 1 month.
The statement also asserted that many of the EPFO field offices in Agra, Laxmi Nagar (Delhi), Udaipur, Vapi, Siddipet, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Ujjain among others are settling over 90% of the claims within a time frame of 3 days.
Further, the retirement fund body obtained over 4000 transfer claims so far through the newly launched Online Transfer Claim Portal (OTCP).
