The rupee was trading marginally strong at 62.09 to the dollar in early trade, a gain of 7 paise over Thursday's close.
The forex market is likely to see thin trading on account of the festive season.
The rupee has been trading in a range now for the last few months, following the currencies' record closing low of 68.81 witnessed in Sept.
Dealers say that the rupee is likely to trade in a range in the absence of any major cues, especially until the new year. Check currency rates here
