After two consecutive discounts offered by low-cost carrier Spicejet in the year, the airline now to boost up its load factor in the lean season has again come up with offers on air ticket bookings. For booking made from February 24 to February 26 for travel between April 1st and June 30, the airline has announced the reduction in its base fare by 75%. The reduction in air fare is made only for the base fare and fuel charges. And travellers need to bare all other cost and taxes etc.

As part of the Super Summer Sale offer, flyers who book before shall be better off as they'll be eligible for or can avail higher discounts offered by the company. Also, through the offer, flyers shall be able to save substantially. As indicated on the airline's website for a flight between Delhi and Mumbai, the last minute price for the booking is Rs. 10,098 while through the given offer, customer can book the ticket at a meager price of Rs. 3,186. While a flight from Mumbai to Chandigarh, shall cost as low as Rs. 2,944 that otherwise in case of last-minute sale costs Rs. 9,856 to the air traveller.

The discount offerings are in line with the company's efforts to ramp up its expansion plans and also to meet its losses. Chief Operating Officer of the Spicejet Airline was quoted in one of the media report saying, "These are not fare wars as is commonly reported, as there are no losers. This is just basic customer segmentation and inventory and revenue management".

He also stated that " "These advance purchase offers are a win-win for airlines and customers as it leads to demand stimulation and airlines reduce wastage of seats that would otherwise fly empty."
