Nestle India Reports No Excess Lead in Maggi; Stock Surge

Shares of Nestle India surged on Tuesday after the company revealed that there is no excess lead in Maggi Noddles.

The company tested samples around 12.5 crore packets and all the result of these external and internal tests showed that lead levels are well within the limits specified by food regulations and that MAGGI noodles are safe to eat, the company said in the BSE filing.

However, the Uttar Pradesh Food Safety & Drug Administration (UPFDA) registered a case against the company due to a higher level of lead in noodles brand Maggi.

We regularly monitor our raw material for lead, including testing by accredited laboratories which have consistently shown levels in Maggi Noodles to be within permissible limits, the company added.

The company said that the quality and safety of our products are the top priorities.

The shares of the company were seen trading at Rs 6875, higher by 3.02 per cent on BSE at 11.35 AM IST. It touched an intra-day high of Rs 6987 during the trade.
