Seven Indian companies have made it to the latest Fortune 500 list. The list is considered as one of the world's biggest corporations in terms of revenue, and global rankings.
The Walmart company topped the global rankings with revenue of $482,130 million followed by State Grid (revenue of $329,601 million) and China National Petroleum ($299,271 million) at the second and third place respectively.
Among the seven Indian companies, four are from the public sector while Reliance Industries (RIL) is the top-ranked among private sector firms, followed by Tata Motors and Rajesh Exports.
The world's 500 largest companies generated $27.6 trillion in revenues and $1.5 trillion in profits in 2015, report said.
Indian Oil Corporation
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is ranked highest at 161st among Indian firms. Lat year company stood at 119th position. The company's revenues stood at $54,711 for this year.
Reliance Industries
Reliance Industries stood highest in terms of private sector firms. The company revenue stood at $43,437 for this year. The company ranked at 215 position this year, last year it stood at 158th position.
Tata Motors
Tata Motors has taken the 226th position, up from 254th last year. The company's revenues stood at $42,092.
Guenter Butschek is CEO of the company.
State Bank of India
SBI have improved their position. SBI is ranked 232nd, up from 260th last year. The revenues of the company were at $ 41,681. Arundhati Bhattacharya is CEO of the Bank. This is the 11th year the bank is on the Global 500 List.
Bharat Petroleum
Bharat Petroleum slipped from 280th to 358th this year. The revenues of Bharat Petroleum were at $ 29,082.
S. Varadarajan is CEO of the company. This is the 13th year the company is on the Global 500 List.
Hindustan Petroleum
Mukesh Kumar Surana is CEO of the Hindustan Petroleum. The company is ranked at 367th, down from 327th. The revenues of Hindustan Petroleum were at $28,829.
Rajesh Exports
Jewellery major Rajesh Exports made its debut at 423rd position. The revenue of Rajesh Exports stood at $25,237. Rajesh J. Mehta is the CEO of the company.
