Indian markets were closed today on account of Guru Nanak Jayanti. This is last of the festive holidays for the exchanges, given that Christmas falls on a Sunday this year.
Asian markets were trading lower, as currencies continued to fall, against the US dollar. The Hong Kong's Hang Sang, the Seoul Composite, the Singapore Strait Times and the Taiwan Weighted were all down in trade.
On Friday, the Sensex closed a staggering 700 points lower, as bond yields in the US rose, sparking a sell-off in emerging markets through huge capital outflows.
