To counter job loss crisis, experts suggest IT professionals to not be anxious and instead upskill with niche specialisation skills that will drive the automation driven IT industry in near future.
With the breather for the IT industry which has been quite for some time now reeling under visa issues, lay-offs, lower margins, the industry is now expected tothrow thr floor open with nearly 85,000 jobs. And in the wake of it, professionals in the IT sector to remain relevant amid automation regime and newer technology landscape are gearing to adopt newer skill sets.

Other than new technology, professionals are also learning new languages to suit the changing IT and related industries landscape. As per a US research firm report, the IT industry shall lose as many as 5 lakh jobs to automation in the next 5 years.
The upskilling trends has been backed by Bengaluru-based online learning platform, Simplilearn which commented that amid job lay-offs, the total number of students who have enrolled for niche specializations including big data, data science, cloud computing, cyber security and devops has increased by 50%.
"It is more important than ever for IT professionals to make sure that they are skilled in the right domains. While there is panic around job losses, in areas like Big Data, Cloud, Data Science, Devops and Cyber Security, companies are recruiting in large numbers. For example, in Data Science alone there are 85,000 jobs openings and companies are struggling to find the right talent," Kashyap Dalal of Simplilearn noted.
So, it is advised by experts that individuals who have lost their jobs amid this crisis need not despair and be anxious re-skill themselves with areas that would be in high demand such as big data and analytics. Similar job opportunities shall be offered in areas of IOT, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and robotics which will require highly trained professionals.
