CNG or Compressed Natural Gas which is an alternative fuel can be used as a substitute of petrol, diesel and LPG or propane. After the recent announcement that in line with the global trend, fuel prices in India shall be revised daily from June 16, 2017, OMCs are also considering revision in daily price of CNG.

The daily change in price of petrol and diesel shall be in force from Friday, June 16, 2017 from 6 am onwards. The step has been decided after three oil marketing companies namely IOC or Indian Oil Corporation, BPCL or Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd and HPCL or Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd undertook a pilot project of daily revision in fuel price in 5 cities including Udaipur, Jamshedpur, Chandigarh, Vizag and Puducherry.

To make the process easy for dealers as well as consumers, companies are coming up with ways and measures such that they can acquaint themselves with daily prices for fuel. For instance, Indian Oil Corp has come up with an app Fuel@IOC.

There are other ways also such as by sending an SMS, an individual can know the price of petrol or diesel in his city of residence. SMS to 92249-92249 has to be sent in the following format;

RSP Dealer code. For the dealer code, one can have a view on the display board of the petrol pump where it would be prominently specified.
