Reliance Jio today announced the launch of its much rumoured 4G feature phone, which is named as JioPhone.
Reliance Jio announced the launch of the much awaited 4G feature phone. The phone is launched at the 40th AGM meet of RIL. RIL Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said that all these phones would be made in India.
Jio smartphone
The Jio Smartphone will be free for all the customers. The buyers need to deposit Rs 1500 as a fee, which will be refunded after three years. This sum can be claimed back by the customer at the end of 36 months of purchase, Mukesh Ambani said.
Made in India
Jio phone will be available for testing this 15th August. The pre booking will start from 24th August. The phone will be available for delivery from September this year. Delivery of the phone will be on first come, first serve basis. Users can book the phone from Jio offline stores and MyJio app. The handset will be manufactured in India starting the last quarter of the year.
Free voice
At the AGM meeting, Mukesh Ambani said that voice calling will always be free for Jio customers. He said that Jio services would be integrated with all e-commerce players.
Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan
Jio feature phone users can avail the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer at just Rs 153 per month. Under this, users will get free voice and SMS as well as unlimited data for free. Jio announces daily and weekly recharge sachets, Rs 24 for one day and Rs 54 for one week.
NFC Payments
Supports digital payment via NFC. The Jio phone supports NFC for secure mobile payments making it among the select few feature phones in the market to support the feature.
Jio TV
Jio has announced its cable TV device. Users will be able to connect Jio phone to any TV and not just smart TV but even the old CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) TVs that you have. All Jio phone users can enjoy viewing their Jio content on their phones from their TV screens, Ambani said.
Jio telecom
Reliance Jio launched its 4G service commercially on September 5, 2016. Jio is offering free data and voice services. Jio has crossed 50 million subscribers in 83 days, and 100 million in 170 days.
