Now, IRCTC does has debarred a few banks debit cards from use on its platform for payment facility.
Citing concerns that some of the banks refused to share convenience fee charged to consumers with the railway booking platform, some of the banks shall henceforth not be able to use their debit card payment gateway on its platform.

After the demonetisation move, IRCTC waived off the Rs. 20 fee charged as convenience fee from its customers but expected bankers to part share the convenience fee they charge with the online reservation portal.
Currently, the portal allows debit cardholders of these banks including Axis Bank, Canara Bank,, Central Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Indian Bank, IOB and United Bank of India to make card payments.
Normally, a merchant which in the case is IRCTC need to pay merchant discount rate that is based on the transaction value to banks. And guidelines for the same have been issued by the RBI on February 16,
It is to be noted that on making railway booking via payment wallets no convenience fee is charged from customers.
