There has been an increase in the allocation of funds for 2018-19 by the government for Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). In 2017-18, UIDAI was given Rs 900 crore which was later revised to Rs 1,200 crore.

The Union Budget presentation informed a 15% hike in the fund allocation for UIDAI to Rs 1,375 crore which it will use for upgradation of its technology and overall strengthening of capacity.
UIDAI CEO Ajay Bhushan Pandey told PTI that there has been an increase in Aadhar based authentication with an average of 4 crore authentications being done on a daily basis.
The increased use of Aadhar has generated a need for the upgradation of its existing capacity, he added.
UIDAI had also recently announced the issue of face recognition along with iris and fingerprint for biometric authentication.
