The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, announced a defense industrial corridor in the Bundelkhand region in Uttar Pradesh. The move is aimed to bring in development in one of the most backward regions of Uttar Pradesh, reports from PTI.

"One of the two defense industrial corridors mentioned in the budget, one is proposed in the Bundelkhand region of the state which will bring an investment of Rs 20,000 crore and generate employment avenues for 2.5 lakh people," the Prime Minister said at the Investors Summit-2018 here.
He said, "that it requires policy, planning, performance to bring progress and both Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and people of the state are ready to give "super hit" performance." He stressed on the fact that the present Uttar Pradesh government has vast potential. Holding an investor's summit and bringing in all the industrialist under is a single roof is a significant change.
The Prime Minister also said that two international airports would come up one in Jewar and another one in Kushinagar.
