8 Lakh Indians by 2030
Shigeki Maeda, the Executive Vice President of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) was speaking at the India-Japan business partnership seminar held on Thursday. This seminar was organised by Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce and JETRO.
During the seminar, Maeda said that Japan currently employs around 9.20 lakh IT professionals and there is demand for atleast 2 lakh professionals that can be fulfilled by Indians. The number is expected to swell up to 8 lakh by 2030.
First of a kind Green Cards to be issued
"The Japanese government will be issuing Green Cards for highly skilled professionals. The first of its kind in the world as people could get permanent resident status in as short a time as one year. This is one of the fastest granted right of residence in the world," Maeda.
Japan is working on Emerging Technologies
He further said that Japan was working on a new deregulation machinery that tests emerging technologies like long-range drone, self-driving cars, etc.
"This new system will foster experimental studies in evolving technologies such as IoT, AI, big data, automatic flight, and automatic driving, thereby clearing a path through the thicket of regulations. This will throw up incredible opportunities for Indian IT professionals to test new technologies in Japan with supportive government regulations superior to any other place in the world."
Visa Issuance rules eased
Japan has eased the rules of visa issuance for Indians with effect from 1 January, 2018. As per the new rule, submission of employment certificate and letters of explanation for multiple-entry visas is not required.
The number of documents to be submitted has also been reduced to three. Also, if you have travelled to Japan twice in one year, you just require your passport and the visa application form.
