The list includes individuals who have brought about an impact in the contemporary world.

Other contender in the list of most influential personalities include North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, re-elected Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, Pakistani-American actor Kumail Nanjiani, Amazon chief Jeff Bezos, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, British Royal family members including Prince William and his wife Duchess of Cambridge Catherine, Prince Henry and his fiancee Meghan Markle and former US President Barack Obama.

Narendra Modi has continuously featured in the list in previous years as the contender among the most influential people by the reputed magazine. In both 2016 and 2017, his name was included in the list.

In 2015, Modi's name was included among the 100 most influential people in the world and former US President Barack Obama wrote a profile for him for the magazine.

The TIME's magazine for over a decade has been releasing a list of world's 100 most influential people annually that includes leaders, artists, entrepreneurs, activists and scientists. The complete list will be announced next week.
