During the month of February, telecom operator Reliance Jio Infocomm added an astonishing 8.74 million customers to its list adding up to 15% of the market share, whereas its competitors Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, and Idea Cellular enrolled smaller customer gains of 4.1 million, 3.2 million and 4.4 million respectively amidst the persisting price war started by the Mukesh Ambani led Jio.

"Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in a data release stated that the number of telephone subscribers in India increased from 1,175.01 million at the end of January 2018 to 1,179.83 million at the end of February 2018, thereby showing a monthly growth rate of 0.41%. The urban subscription declined from 672.54 million at the end of January 2018 to 669.63 million at the end of February 2018, however, the rural subscription increased from 502.47 million to 510.20 million during the same period."
"The overall Tele-density in India has increased from 90.61 at the end of January 2018 to 90.89 at the end of February 2018."
Jio continued its steady march in terms of customer market share, taking it to 15.31% up from the previous share of 14.62% in the month of January, 13.71% in the month of December, 13.08% in the month of November and 12.39% in the month of October, as per the TRAI's data.
As per the total number of customers, Sunil Mittal's Bharti Airtel retained the first place with 295.78 million customers, followed by Vodafone India with 217.06 million customers and Idea with 202.06 million customers in India.
The subscribers of Reliance's Jio increased to 177.13 million during the end of February.
The data from the telecom regulator showed that Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, and Idea has registered prudent market share gains during the end of February and currently stands at 25.57% (25.32%); 18.76% (18.56%) and 17.47% (17.16%) respectively over the previous month.
The total number of broadband subscribers increased from 378.10 million at the end of January 2018 to 392.06 million at the end of February 2018 with a monthly growth rate of 3.69%.
Top five service providers constituted 94.99% market share of the total broadband subscribers in the country at the end of February 2018. These service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (177.13 million), Bharti Airtel (80.24 million), Vodafone (55.54 million), Idea Cellular (38.52 million) and BSNL (21.00 million).
The top five Wired Broadband Service providers in India are BSNL (9.30 million), Bharti Airtel (2.17 million), Atria Convergence Technologies (1.30 million), MTNL (0.88 million) and Hathway Cable & Datacom (0.75 million) by end of February 2018.
By the end of February 2018, the top five Wireless Broadband Service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (177.13 million), Bharti Airtel (78.07 million), Vodafone (55.54 million), Idea Cellular (38.52 million) and BSNL (11.71 million).
