The complete mobile protection programme of Flipkart, will not cover theft and it will offer a pickup and drop facility with guaranteed problem resolution within a maximum period of 10 days.
This will be first of a kind service provided by the online e-commerce. The company will start with Asus phones beginning this week and it will expand to all other brands and models within a couple of months.
"We have our own service network through F1and Jeeves and we're integrated with brand service centers as well. The aim is to become the single point of contact for customers since they have bought the phone from us," said Ayyappan R, Senior Director for Smartphones at Flipkart.
"We have a share of 25% in the overall mobile phone market, including offline, which we want to take to 40% by 2020. Presently, we have a 70% share in the online space," Ayyappan said after indicating data from Counterpoint Technology Market Research for the March 2018 quarter.
The phone repair service by Flipkart will increase the sales of smartphones by at least 30%, he further added.
Smartphones are one of the top-selling categories on the retail platforms of Flipkart and Amazon. It contributes to the significant share of the overall revenue of the online e-commerce companies.
Last year, the company acquired F1 Info Solutions and also invested in Jeeves, both of these companies provide repair services for mobile phones and other electronic equipment.
